The new hotspot: Jersey City. With rents raising in Brooklyn and an influx of commercial spaces banning street artists, young creatives are making the trek across the Hudson giving downtown Jersey City a refreshing spin.
One of my best friends also made the move recently, giving us the best excuse to cover hidden gems on a dreary Saturday. We started off with brunch at the beautiful Satis bistro. Their bloodies are the perfect amount of spicy and sweet. They will make your mouth pucker for more! After sipping through 2 glasses each, we probably chose the best option on the menu- Poached Eggs on Brioche w/ Wild Mushrooms and Truffle Hollandaise, with a side of Pomme-Frites, of course.
When it came time for dessert, our natural intuitive choice was the gelato. One scoop of coconut and one scoop of hazelnut did the trick. We were cozied up with pillows in one of the bay windows, and we dined for 2 whole hours within the rustic, European interiors. We talked life thus far as 24 year olds, and what we can start doing differently to nourish our creative hunger pains.
There is never a better cure than to start brainstorming change in a brand new and adventurous neighborhood.
Along the way, I captured some of JC's dope street art, we wandered into Porta for the smell of freshly baked coal oven pizza, and finished off our exploration with some caffeine at The Warehouse. Jersey City is inspiring and fresh.
